[content] => The International Ozone [**]ssociation held a network seminar on the use of ozone in gardening on [**]pril 21. The network seminar will cover the benefits of ozone in the garden industry and how to use important technical reminders to use ozone.
Ozone is a strong oxidant and disinfection agent with short residual life. This means that it can purify water and surface, and then break down the oxygen, leaving very little by -products. The characteristics of ozone make it a good choice for the controlled environmental agriculture (CE[**]) such as vertical farms and greenhouses. The network seminar will first introduce ozone related to the current application. The meeting will then review the application of ozone in vertical agriculture, including the combination of ozone and filtration, and consideration of irrigation fertilizer formula. It will also cover the use of ozone in greenhouses and reuse. [**]fter that, the discussion will be discussed with ozone treatment of fruits and vegetables after harvest to extend the shelf life and protect consumers.
The use of ozone can provide safer foods. Due to the low level of bacteria, the shelf life will be longer. Ozone can be used for many foods.
Ozone in food processing
-The explosive growth in the past 10 years
-Huge growth potential -consumers need more safer and better food supply
-On the first time in 1997, it was allowed to use ozone in food processing -limited applications
-Ozone approved by FD[**] and USD[**] in 2001
-The research in this area is in progress
-Omes used for processing and food storage
Ozone food processing
-The decrease in bacteria during processing will also extend the shelf life
-Ome is directly applied to agricultural products or meat.
-Ome can be used as antibacterial intervention in most agricultural products and meat applications.
