Research on the role of ozone in aquaculture water treatment: With its unique physical and chemical properties, ozone is widely used in various industries, such as healthcare, drinking water, food, healthcare, textiles, aquaculture, etc. This article focuses on summarizing some of the latest research progress in the use of ozone in aquaculture water, wastewater treatment, and its impact on aquaculture objects in recent years. In these studies, it was found that when the ozone concentration is 0.27mg/l, the 100% killing rate of harmful Vibrio (Vibrio floating, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio alginolyticus) can be achieved in pure seawater for 4-6 minutes; [**]fter using 0.5mg/L ozone to treat the seedling water of Chinese mitten crab, it was found that its emergence rate increased by nearly 5.9 percentage points compared to the control group, and its vitality coefficient was also much higher than the control group. Based on these research results, we explored how ozone will be more effectively applied in aquaculture water treatment in future intensive aquaculture.(Ozone for aquaculture water)

1、 Physical and chemical properties of ozone
Ozone is one of the most oxidizing oxidants in nature. Its oxidation reduction potential is 2.07mV, second only to F:. Ozone can oxidize most of inorganic compound and organic substances, and the product after reaction is oxygen, so ozone is an efficient oxidant without secondary pollution, easy to prepare, convenient to use, fast reaction speed, no need to add additional catalyst, and also has the advantages of quantitative oxidation and easy use [1].
2、 The role of ozone in pre-treatment of aquaculture water
(1) Ozone can kill harmful bacteria in water
Ozone destroys bacterial cell membranes, causing cell death due to internal logistics. It can also cause the activity of intracellular enzymes to be lost, thereby destroying genetic material within cells, inhibiting their reproduction, and cutting off the possibility of their transmission to breeding objects. [**]ccording to research on the killing effect of ozone on Vibrio in different media, it was found that when the concentration of ozone is 0.27mg/l, the 100% killing rate can be achieved in pure seawater for 4-6 minutes.
(2) [**]ppropriate concentration of ozone can also promote the reproduction of beneficial algae after treating water
The main use of marine microalgae cultivation is as an opening bait for fish and shrimp, as well as a bait for shellfish and bait animals.
Using ozone to treat water for single cell algae cultivation experiments, adding 1-2 g of ozone per m3 of water can achieve the purpose of disinfection and purification. The treated water can be used after being left for about 60 minutes, without any side effects, and can significantly promote the reproduction and growth of unicellular algae, which is significantly different from the control group.(Ozone for aquaculture water)
I speculate that there may be two reasons:
1. The suspended particulate matter in the water treated with ozone significantly decreases, increasing the transparency of the water quality, which is conducive to the photosynthesis of unicellular algae and promoting their reproduction and growth.
2. The conversion of ammonia nitrogen in water is relatively complete, and the content of nitrate nitrogen increases, making it easier for unicellular algae to absorb and utilize, and convert into their own cellular substances.
3、 The role of ozone in the treatment of aquaculture wastewater(Ozone for aquaculture water)
(1) Removal of organic matter from wastewater
[**]quaculture wastewater often contains high levels of organic matter, mainly feed residues, which either sink to the bottom or dissolve in water. However, the oxidation and decomposition of these organic substances require a large amount of O2, and ozone has strong oxidizing properties. On the one hand, it oxidizes organic matter, and on the other hand, it avoids a decrease in dissolved oxygen in water
(2) Removal of nitrite from wastewater
Nitrite is an intermediate product in the process of converting ammonia to nitrate, caused by incomplete oxidation. Experiments have shown that as long as there is residual ozone in the water, nitrite will be completely oxidized. The theoretical ozone consumption for the degradation of nitrite is 1.04mg per milligram of N02- the amount of 03 required to be consumed. When the concentration of nitrite in the water reaches 0.1mg/L, fish and shrimp may stop growing in mild cases and die in severe cases, causing huge economic losses. When NO2- encounters ozone, it is converted into non-toxic nitrate.

(3) Removal of ammonia nitrogen
Most of the metabolic end products of aquaculture animals are discharged in the form of ammonia. [**]fter coming into contact with water, some form ammonium ions, while others form hydrated ammonia or non ionized ammonia, which is highly toxic. [**]ccording to Liu Yong et al. [5]'s research on ozone catalytic oxidation degradation of ammonia nitrogen in cold water fish factory aquaculture wastewater, it was found that when the ammonia nitrogen in water exceeds 0.3mg/L, it can cause fish poisoning and can also be removed by ozone oxidation. The reaction formula is:
